SATELLITE REIGN

When Satellite Reign was announced back in the summer of 2013, I was excited but nervous. It’s (heavily) inspired by the groundbreaking Bullfrog RTS Syndicate, a game I absolutely loved, and the thought of its reputation being even further besmirched by a half-baked knockoff weighed heavily on my heart. But yesterday developer 5 Lives Studios released the launch trailer, and I’m feeling a little better. Continue reading SATELLITE REIGN

The PC release of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain was originally set for September 15, two weeks after the September 1 release of the console versions. But a few weeks ago, Konami announced that it had moved the date up, so the PC edition would be out on September 1 as well. Good news! Cradle [official site] is a bold, imaginative and shocking piece of science fiction that comes to us in the body of a first-person adventure game. Transhumanism, block-based arcade puzzles, time-consuming object hunts and some of the smartest writing in the medium are waiting out on the steppe.  Continue reading THE CRADLE review – this could become a classic

Vast space, somewhere near Jupiter, spaceship that floats and AI in control.Sounds familiar? Some of the movies shown how isolated space can be, and some of AI – ODYSEE 2001’s  HAL 9000 shown grumpiness of computers.Something has gone wrong with the ship’s computer and it seems to have developed a complex. HER STORY REVIEW

Her Story has you trawling an archive of police interview footage to unravel a murder that only gets stranger the more you watch. It makes for a puzzling—and utterly fascinating—montage that won’t be the same for any two players. The fractured structure comprises hundreds of pieces of FMV which you cross reference for clues (and make your own logical leaps) in order to unpick what happened to the game’s leading lady, who’s also the only character you see on screen.
