SQUAD

Squad is an online, team-based military experience where high levels ofteamwork and communication are crucial to success.Built from the ground up in Unreal Engine 4, Squad pits teams of up to 50 people against each other in intense modern day combined-arms combat scenarios. In this realistic environment, the flow of the game is dictated by the players, with organic and emergent gameplay reigning supreme.

This trailer comes somewhere from may 2015.In the meantime developers added vehicles to the game.Squad finally gets vehicles today, as part of its massive alpha 7 patch, now on Steam. You can see the new features in action in the trailer above, or you can read this enormous blog post, which goes into how vehicles function in exhaustive detail.Eleven vehicles have been added to the game for its latest alpha version, spread across three disciplines: transport, logistics, and fire support. While vehicles will respawn on some maps, this will come at a heavy ticket cost, so the developers warn players to “protect and repair your vehicles!”

Anyhow,Squad is a standalone project from the makers of Battlefield 2 mod Project Reality. In a stark departure from that project, this game is “an online, team-based military themed first-person-shooter where high levels of teamwork and communication are crucial to success”. Wait, did I say ‘stark departure’? What I meant was ‘basically the same deal, only in Unreal Engine 4’.

As with the Battlefield game, Squad will feature large-scale environments, but with a heavier focus on realistic simulation of things like ballistics and damage. There’s also a base-building component that puts a heavier focus on coordinated teamwork and leadership. For more information, follow us on Twitter & Facebook.
