Rise of the Tomb Raider will not have multiplayer according to the Official Xbox Magazine.

The original Tomb Raider reboot included a multiplayer mode, but as you’ve probably already guessed, it wasn’t very popular. The quote from OXM states, “with multiplayer cut from the experience, Crystal Dynamics needed to make this core campaign as exciting as possible.”

It is good to see game developers not shoehorning in tacked on multiplayer modes to primarily single player experiences anymore. However, it will be interesting to see just how much content the single player experience of Rise of the Tomb Raider will have on offer.
