If you are NBA fan you are certainly already played some of the 2K NBA games.Youll be happy to hear that 2K Sports announced additions to MyLeague and MyGM.
trailer:
Some of the new stuff is listed below:
- Full 30-team leagues that support 1-30 human teams.
- Fully featured Fantasy Draft to kick off the experience with your friends.
- Fully adjustable setup options (season length, MyLEAGUE difficulty sliders, etc.).
- Every Admin Control option you can think of (if you want more, let me know in the forums!).
- Flex Scheduling, play any game at any time.
- Custom Roster support (Classic League with our new classic teams?).
The core experience is a single season mode, but there is an offering to extend your league into a second season if everyone wants to run it back. Once the season is done, the Admin has the option to restart the league with the end-of-season rosters (meaning, all trades you made in season 1 will carry over into season 2). Think of it as a new season without the happenings of a standard NBA offseason. I made the decision very early on that would be our path as I wanted the core focus to be on stability and reliability of the mode, while offering as many features as possible. I’m sure you can all understand and respect that decision.
At the end of the day, it seems that the true online experience fans have been coveting is back.
Team Relocation
I’ve had a vision for this feature for MANY years now. This year I got the greenlight, and it instantly became a passion project. In fact, it was so successful that you will see its tentacles (the team create elements) extend into every mode in the game. Looking back on this feature, even as I’m writing this right now, it amazes me how many people on the team got involved in it, and gave it 110% to make it all it could be. My respect for the team here at Visual Concepts has no bounds.
City Selection
The first step in any Team Relocation is deciding where you want to move the franchise to. This is a big decision. We have created complete metro profiles for most of the big North American cities. These profiles include the population of the metropolitan area, the income of the people residing in this area, and how many TV homes there are in the market. We take these numbers and boil them down into three very simple meters for you: 1) How the Median Income of the market affects the future financial success of your franchise, 2) The overall population of the metropolitan area in comparison to other relocation city options, and 3) The overall fan interest of you moving your team to their city. And you thought you were just going to pick your favorite city with no other factors. That’s cute! This is big business.
Once you have selected your city, you then need to decide whether you want to build the arena in a Downtown setting or in a Suburban setting. Land prices cost more downtown, so that will be a costlier relocation and will incur higher operating costs, but with the uptick that your team will be centrally located to where the action is (higher attendance), and to where your more affluent fans reside. Wait, it costs money to relocate a team? Of course it does!
You’re just the GM of the team in MyGM. You will need the blessing of your owner to relocate his franchise. Fortunately, the owners in NBA 2K16 are more than willing to support your relocation endeavors, but with caveats. The level of contribution you can expect from your owner will vary depending on the city you want to relocate to. For example, when you are GMing the Thunder, you can expect your owner to kick in a few extra bucks when you choose to relocate the team to Seattle, over say, Anchorage, Alaska. You can earn your own funds to add towards a relocation by completing the goals your Owner sets forth to you each season. While you apply for a relocation application in year 1 of MyGM, it might behoove you to bide your time for a few seasons and bank some money to plan for the ultimate relocation.
Team Branding
Ok, you’ve selected your city. We’ve only just begun. The next order of business is Team Branding. This is where you can choose your primary/secondary/tertiary team colors, select a new name for your team, and select a new team logo. You don’t have to do any of this. If you want to move the team and keep all of this the same, more power to you. But if you DO want to change these, we’ve given you some robust options. We have a large selection of on-disc team logos that you can choose from, otherwise you can head over to our website and upload any image of your choosing to be your team logo. If you want to upload a picture of a hummingbird and name your team the Hummingbirds, have at it. Feeling lazy? You can also browse uploads from other users and choose to use one of those as your own. The options are endless.
Next steps include design of arena, where you can choose between 24 different Jumbotron styles, different courts, sounds etc, design of uniforms ,league realignment, all new offseason, draft lottery. As you can see,so much of the new stuff will be available, offering few hours of playing more on the table.
Another interesting feature is summer league.
There are actually two Summer Leagues in the game this year: 1) The Samsung NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, and 2) The 2K Summer League. Your team will get an invite to one of the summer leagues each offseason.
The setup of the Summer League in Las Vegas completely mirrors the real-life setup of the actual event. This is a tremendous chance for you to play with your newly drafted rookies, with and against the best of the undrafted rookies from the previous draft, and with the younger non-rookie players on your roster.
Now,let’s talk about team roosters and trading. In 2k16,different team have different valuations of same players. Also, you will see teams do a much better job of looking at their roster post-trade when deciding if they should bite on a trade offer. This year, even if the trade offers them REALLY good value, they may pass solely because, for example, the trade may leave them without a true starting point guard when they think they are good enough to make a deep run in the playoffs.
Team Building logic in a franchise mode is a fickle thing. It’s liquid. It’s always on the move, and it’s certainly never done. There isn’t a right answer, but there is certainly a wrong answer. In NBA 2K16, I feel like we do a thorough job of explaining the new Team Building logic, via feedback to you, the user. This was a big year for the brains of the mode.
Because there’s so much awesomeness in these returning modes, it’s hard to pick a place to begin. Almost every aspect of the new features offers great quality. MyLeague was already the quintessential multi-player franchise mode, while MyGM was among the best single-player franchise modes ever created. It appears both have become even stronger.
Most of the features revealed will touch MyLeague and MyGM, so we’ll start off with the details and break down the few differences between the modes as we go.
Application Accepted or Nah
In MyGM, just because you submit an application doesn’t mean it will be accepted. Once the league office approves your application, it still has to go before the relocation committee. That group is made up of NBA owners.
They may not want to allow you to move a third team to the N.Y. area. Boensich explains, you can always expect to have the New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets owners to vote against a relocation project such as that. However, you will have an opportunity to try to sway the opinions of owners.
Your proposal can be strengthened through the conversation modules that were previously included in the mode.
Staff Hiring
Madden had the staff carousel years ago and it worked well. It’s great to see the concept in NBA 2K as it is just as much a part of NBA action as it is in the NFL.
As should be expected, 2K did the concept a bit bigger than EA Sports did with Madden. In NBA 2K16, you can attempt to poach assistants and head coaches from other teams. Just like in the NBA, you’ll have to request permission to speak with them about an opportunity.
If you can get it and convince the coach to join the organization, it’s a win. You will also see players work their way up to coaching staffs after their playing careers. They can even become general managers after several seasons.
2K Hoops Summit
One of the coolest offseason events NBA 2K16 has included is the 2K Hoops Summit. Not many people are talking about this on social media, but it’s really ingenious and very realistic.
The 2K Hoops Summit is obviously supposed to be similar to Nike Hoops Summit. If you’re not familiar with that event, it’s a showcase of the top American and international players who have not yet gone to college.
It seems 2K is spinning the idea a bit and including prospective college players from their randomly generated draft classes, or the 2K community’s shared creation. Within a MyGM or MyLeague, 2K Hoops Summit serves as a preview of the top players coming into the NBA in your next draft.
This game just keeps sounding better every second.
SimCast Live
SimCast was an awesome simulation system in NBA 2K15, but NBA 2K16 will introduce SimCast Live. What’s the difference?
SimCast Live allows you to coach and make decisions while the game is being simulated. Players are represented on the court by chips with their faces on them.
You’re able to direct strategy and push certain on-court initiatives as opposed to just watching everything unfold in text. The chips will move and offer a more lively and interactive experience.
You can also jump in and out, and back in again if you ever want to take control of the sticks. Also, the original SimCast is still available.
Other Important Details
- Three-Team Trades – Finally, this much-needed feature has returned and should make for some interesting deals.
- Multiple Injuries – For the first time in any sports video game I can recall, players can have two injuries at the same time.
- Player Lock – This underrated feature has also returned to MyGM and MyLeague. You can now choose to take control of one player on the team and play only as him, or as one position. It’s like the Create-A-Legend mode without the goals.
- Slider City – Sliders are awesome, and MyGM and MyLeague have a ton of them. You can alter just about everything in gameplay, league setup, injury settings, salary-cap details and more. Best of all, you can save them for future MyLeagues and MyGMs or share them with the 2K community.
- Long-Term Owner Goals (MyGM) – This one is just for MyGM, but it does encourage a longer experience with the mode. Previously, all of the goals could be completed in a season, and then owners had to get new ones at the beginning of each year. Now, you’ll be given goals that take a few years to complete.
- Stats Galore – NBA 2K15 already had great stat tracking, but in line with what’s becoming a recurring theme here, NBA 2K16 is taking it a step further. One example given by Boenisch is the inclusion of the individual defensive field-goal percentage stat. These guys are serious.
- Turn off Autosave – Autosave is not always a good thing. NBA 2K15 fans found that out last year. This year you have the option to turn it on or off.
- MyLeague Automation – In NBA 2K15, you could control all 30 teams in the league, but you had to handle every aspect of the running of the organization. This year, you can alter the settings of each team to the level of control desired.
GAMEPLAY
Finally these are all features. But what about gameplay? From 2K we’ve been hearing recently, that all new gameplay will be available. One thing you can see from different trailers,is the camera angles has been improved. Like other NBA 2K games, NBA 2K16 is marketed as being as realistic as the actual NBA, with all the things featured in NBA games, such as commentary, halftime shows, pregame shows, post game shows, replays, crowds, and real player movement, among many other things. As we mentioned before, game has several modes to play against other players offline or online or to play agains computer.Along with the current real word teams, such as the Los Angeles Clippers and the Milwaukee Bucks, and the Classic teams (first introduced in NBA 2K11) that have been featured before, like the 1985–86 Boston Celtics and the 1995–96 Chicago Bulls, 12 new Classic teams will be introduced in NBA 2K16. The 1999–2000 Toronto Raptors, featuring Vince Carter and Tracy McGrady, the 2000–01 Los Angeles Lakers, featuring Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant, the 2002–03 Dallas Mavericks, featuring Steve Nash and Dirk Nowitzki, and the 2007–08 Boston Celtics, featuring Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, and Ray Allen, are some of the new Classic teams. The Euroleague teams, first featured in NBA 2K14, return for the third time. Some of the 25 Euroleague teams include FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, Alba Berlin, andCSKA Moscow.
Director Spike Lee is involved in the development of the game. Lee is the director, writer, and co-producer of NBA 2K16 ’s MyCareer mode. A “Spike Lee Joint”, Lee said of working on the game: “We follow a kid through the trials and tribulations of being a top high school player and the decisions he has to make.” Lee also said the experience of video game development was “unique”, and stated that he felt he could “push the boundaries of innovative storytelling”. 2K spokesperson Ryan Peters said: “We just told Spike, ‘You transform the narrative, and we’ll change that into digital polygons.’ And he did that, bringing a protagonist and antagonist to the story.” The cover states “Be The Story” and features pictures of the cover athletes from early in their respective careers, both emphasising the game’s MyCareer mode.
All in all,2k developed franchise and it is geting better,at least according to the press releases and trailers. We’ll be writing review soon, until the follow us on Facebook & Twitter for more news about NBA 2K16.
