From Eternum Pictures comes a new live-action short film
based on zombie game DayZ, and it does not disappoint. The three-minute movie, which features no talking, captures the tone of the game quite well, especially the way in which you never know if someone you meet is a friend or foe.
Without giving too much away, the film follows a man who journeys through a post-apocalyptic world, scavenging for supplies and facing off against other people he meets along the way. There are some well-done combat and traversal scenes to admire, too. The music you hear is from Apparat.
The Day Z fan film has drawn the praise of the game’s creator, Dean Hall, who writes on Twitter that the movie is “awesome.” Hall has since left the DayZ development team, though publisher Bohemia Interactive is moving forward without him, and has major plans for the game in 2015 and beyond.
